Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should start James Milner and Joe Gomez on Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Red Bull Salzburg, claims Charlie Nicholas.
Nicholas believes that Klopp could afford a couple of changes in the starting line-up for the home game with Salzburg despite the Reds’ 2-0 loss to Napoli in their opening match.
The Arsenal legend is confident the Merseyside club will bounce back and pick up an easy victory over the Austrian champions which is why they could rest a couple of players.
The Sky Sports pundit claims he would bring in Gomez and Milner and also suggested that Adam Lallana deserves an opportunity for this kind of encounter.
Nicholas told Sky Sports: “I remember Red Bull Salzburg from them playing Celtic a few years back.
“There was a lot going on with the brand and funding – they had to be building for a few years.
“They are going to one of the grounds with the best atmosphere in Europe on Champions League nights.
“Liverpool are getting the job done at the moment.
“If I were Jurgen Klopp I would change a couple of things.
“Joe Gomez could come in and James Milner may get a start.
“Adam Lallana could get an opportunity, too.
“It will be a very comfortable night, regardless.”
Liverpool extended their winning streak in the Premier League to seven matches after defeating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the weekend.
Georginio Wijnaldum scored the winner after 70 minutes.
