Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in tears as he ends interview after sealing Premier League

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave an emotional interview after his side were confirmed as Premier League champions. Liverpool were crowned champions as Manchester City were beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It breaks Liverpool’s 30-year-wait for the title and Klopp spoke to Sky Sports afterwards and struggled to get his words out due to the emotions.

“I have no words,” he said.

“It is unbelievable, much more than I thought was possible. Becoming champions with this club is absolutely incredible.

“This is for Kenny, for Stevie – everyone!

“The Manchester City game was really tense, I didn’t want to be involved. It was intense but it is an incredible from my players.

“What they have done over the last few years in exceptional and it’s a pure joy for me to coach them.”

He added: “There’s a sense of relief because after the three-month interruption no one knew how the season would come back. This is for all of the fans. I hope they celebrate it, it’s all in our hearts and our heads, we do it all together and it’s a joy to do this for the fans.

“We are in a bubble. Apart from this [celebration] tonight, we do nothing. We go to the training ground and then go home, that is all we do. The boys have time together tonight. It’s difficult out there still for a lot of people but tonight we couldn’t hold back, we had to come together.

“It’s very important to celebrate because these moments are unforgettable. We have pictures from the season and now we have pictures of the celebrations and we will create pictures in the future with the parade with our supporters. Tonight we have made the best of our situation.

“It’s a mix of the club’s history, we have found a good way to write our own story and that has given us a lot of power. The atmosphere in and round the club, the intensity of how everyone lives and breathes football in this club, and then we had a really good hand in keeping the players we kept and the ones we brought in.

“It’s a wonderful mix, they are all winners without having won in the past. They are here and we can start winning together. It is incredibly difficult in these competitions but it’s only possible with consistency, and that is what drives us.

“We knew two years ago having played a good season but finishing fourth that we lacked consistency. You have to work on that, you have to create that and convince people and that is what we did.”

And before stepping away visibly emotional Klopp said: “This is a big moment, I have no real words. I am completely overwhelmed. I never thought I would feel like this…”

Klopp then had to excuse himself as he found the words hard to finish on as he began to choke up.

Jordan Henderson battled against the tears as well when he spoke on TV shortly after.

He said: “[It feels] Amazing. I didn’t want to talk about it until this moment so it’s amazing to finally get over the line.

“I’m so happy for all the boys, the fans, the whole club, the city. I’m a little bit overwhelmed right now, it’s an amazing feeling and I’m just so proud of what we’ve achieved.”
