Liverpool news: El Hadji-Diouf BLASTS Jamie Carragher and makes claim about Scousers

Liverpool signed Diouf in the summer of 2002, shortly after the Senegal international had impressed at the World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

He failed to hit the heights many expected at Anfield, however, with the 38-year-old struggling during his time at Merseyside.

Diouf has made a habit of criticising Liverpool in the time since and has never held back when it comes to Carragher and Steven Gerrard.

And the now retired forward has taken aim at Carragher and believes he only had a good career because he is a Scouser.

“He was a right-footed player with two left feet,” Diouf told beIN SPORTS.

“If he wasn’t a Scouser, a son of Liverpool, he would never have had the career he did.”

Diouf previously admitted that he made a mistake in joining Liverpool, at a time where Manchester United were also interested in snapping him up.

“I can say today that the shirt that I regret wearing the most was Liverpool’s,” he said.

“Because if I were to do that part of my career again, I would have gone to FC Barcelona or Manchester United.

“At the time, they wanted me too.”

Carragher, in an interview last year, said that Diouf was his WORST-EVER Liverpool team-mate.

“The worst has to be El Hadji Diouf,” Carragher said.

“Actually, I quite enjoyed playing against him as you could kick him then – can’t kick your own players.’”

Gerrard agreed with Carragher’s Liverpool claim about Diouf, writing in his autobiography: “I wasn’t Diouf’s number one fan’.

“Being around Melwood and Anfield I knew which players were hungry, which players had Liverpool at heart.

“Diouf was just interested in himself.

“His attitude was all wrong. I felt he wasn’t really arsed about putting his body on the line to get Liverpool back at the top.’”
