Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes calls out team-mates despite Everton win

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has called for more leadership within the club after their 3-1 Premier League win over Everton on Saturday. The Portugal international scored twice as the Red Devils picked up all three points. But he’s called on his team-mates to do more.

Manchester United went into the match against Everton looking for a response after recent defeats to Istanbul Basaksehir and Arsenal.

And they got just that, despite falling a goal down early on.

Bernard put Everton ahead in the first half, with the Brazil international wrong-footing Aaron Wan-Bissaka before beating David De Gea with a powerful low strike.

But United responded excellently and turned things around with Fernandes at the double.

The 26-year-old’s first goal was a header and he put the Red Devils ahead with a curling effort that sailed past Jordan Pickford, with Edinson Cavani then finding the net late on.

And Fernandes has now called for more leadership within the squad.

“I don’t care. If Marcus touched it a little bit it can be his goal,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter, no problem for me.

“The most important for me as a No.10 is serving my team-mates, as I did in the end for Edi (Cavani).

“I had the chance to shoot, maybe looking for the hat-trick, but I see Edi alone, he had the chance.

“If Marcus takes the second goal it’s not a problem for me.”

Meanwhile, speaking before the game, United legend Rio Ferdinand insisted his old side weren’t looking to replace Solskjaer.

“I think that depends on the hierarchy at the club,” he said.

“The news coming out of the club to my ears is that they’re not looking.

“They’re not searching for a replacement.

“They’re very much behind Ole. They’re invested in terms of recruitment for him and and they want to let him see that out.

“But obviously if results do continue in this vein, then they will maybe have to reassess that.”
