Since tying the knot with Prince Harry in May, Meghan has been hit with speculation of controversy and feuds with other members of the royal family. Rumours of an ongoing rift between sister-in-law Kate have abounded and Meghan, 37, was also reportedly nicknamed ‘Duchess difficult’ by Palace staff after she bombarded her team with early morning texts.
But now royal author Katie Nicholl claims Meghan Markle and Harry have yet to hire a nanny, chef or team of staff as they settle in to life as a family of three following the birth of their firstborn son Archie Harrison.
Instead Meghan’s beloved mother Doria, 62, has proved “indispensable” as she throws herself into being a grandmother for the very first time at the couple’s sprawling Windsor home.
Ms Nicholl told Grazia magazine, the royal couple have a “scaled down team” in a bid to maintain some normality away from the spotlight.
A source told Ms Nicholl: “They don’t yet have a nanny or a team of staff and there’s no chef.
“Doria has been helping out, she has been indispensable.”
The news follows reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to hire an American, possibly male nanny to care for their royal baby.
Prince Harry has been back at work within days of his first son’s birth.
He made a trip to the Hague for the launch of the Invictus Hames and has another royal engagement planned in Italy for the Sentebale Polo Cup.
Ms Ragland is said to be enjoying her stay in a suite inside the couple’s new home and will be a “frequent” visitor making her way to and from her base in the US.
Since Meghan Markle joined the Royal Family, she has often been accused of being “difficult” and “demanding”.
Last December, her personal assistant reportedly quit after working with the Duchess for just six months because of her diva-like attitude.
In 2018 biography “Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes and Dreams”, author Robert Jobson claimed that before the royal wedding last May, Prince Harry raised his voice and yelled, “What Meghan wants, she gets!”
