Microsoft news as Windows 10 and Xbox fans get first look inside new flagship UK store

Microsoft’s first UK flagship store will open its doors tomorrow with customers treated to a lot more than just another shop.

This huge 21,932 sq. ft. retail space spreads across three floors of the iconic Oxford Circus building with some unique experiences on offer for those who walk through the doors.

The US technology firm is trying to bring a more interactive way to shop with its flagship store including a dedicated Gaming Lounge, giant video screens, a Selfie Zone and even the chance to drive a real McLaren Senna road car around the Forza McLaren Xbox experience.

Windows 10 fans will also find all the latest Microsoft products and accessories including Surface laptops, tablets plus there’s a chance to try out the new Mixed Reality HoloLens.

One exclusive bonus of buying your device from this store is plus the option to have your latest purchases customised at the Surface Design Lab.

All visitors can create their own personalised Surface Type Cover, featuring a range of designs that can be etched directly onto the cover whilst they wait.

If gaming is your passion then there’s a whole area dedicated to the Xbox console with fans able to try out the latest titles or use the esports hub to take part in online competitions.

Microsoft is also boasting that gamers can try out the Thronos Gaming Chair which is the first in Europe.

This device includes three screens which curve around the user with the chair moving and vibrating in sync with what’s happening in the game.

This zone is also kitted out with customised controllers to help those with disabilities enjoy the latest blockbuster titles.

Along with retail and gaming areas Microsoft has also included an Answer Desk which it says will be a one-stop-shop for customers to get technical support, training, repairs and advice from trusted advisors on any Microsoft device or service.

Finally, there’s a Community Theatre with a classroom-style setting for up to 30 guests to take part in workshops, training and special events.

Microsoft says it will run free, year-round workshops and programs for customers including STEM learning, coding and summer camps.

“We are honoured to open the London flagship, Microsoft’s newest front door, in the vibrant Oxford Circus,” said David Porter, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Store.

“It will provide free access to resources and tools for every customer, from Fortune 500 enterprise companies to small businesses to educational institutions to consumers.

“We look forward to providing our UK and European customers, and anyone who visits London, a new way to experience the best of Microsoft from demo to purchase, and with ongoing tech support, trainings and workshops.

“We have some special surprises in store for our London customers and look forward to many years ahead building relationships,”

And John Carter, Senior Store Manager, flagship Microsoft Store in London added: “This is more than a store, it’s a destination, right in the heart of London. Our store associates aim to be trusted advisors, providing unrivalled local tech support for businesses, learning institutions and individuals. We want to give people amazing technology experiences and learning opportunities.”

The flagship store will launch tomorrow, July 11, with it open Monday – Friday: 10am – 9pm • Saturday: 10am – 8pm • Sunday: 12pm – 6pm.

To commemorate the opening of the newest flagship, Microsoft has revealed that a series of special events and experiences are set to kick off from the moment the doors open to the public.

This includes the chance to try some of the latest Xbox exclusive games direct from E3, playable for the first time in the UK.

During the four-day gaming event, attendees will be among the first to get hands-on with the new Project xCloud streaming service and the chance to play some of the hottest upcoming titles like Gears 5.
