Each year, September is one of the biggest months for Apple. The company usually reveals a new iPhone, iPad or Apple TV hardware and it seems that, despite the unprecedented global health crisis, this year will be no different. According to a recent tweet from tech tipster Jon Prosser. the US firm could announce the launch of a new Apple Watch and iPad Air as early as tomorrow.
In a post on social media, Prosser states: “Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST — though, I should note that it’s not locked in until the press has been briefed, day of.”
In a previous post on Twitter, Prosser noted that the Apple Watch and iPad Air would be announced via a press release during the week beginning September 7, 2020. If his sources are accurate – and he’s had a pretty mixed bag with prediction in the past – shiny new devices could land on Apple’s website.
Although Jon Prosser, who runs a hugely successful YouTube channel about consumer technology, believes Apple Watch Series 6 and a reworked iPad Air will arrive tomorrow another prominent expert disagrees.
Mark Gurman, who has an unmatched history of getting predictions right when it comes to all things Apple, believes tomorrow will simply see the announcement of Apple’s renown September launch event. The US firm always sends out invites to media and commentators ahead of its main reveal and while this year is unlikely to be a packed keynote inside the Steve Jobs Audiotorium, Apple will still want to drum excitement around its virtual launch.
In his post, Gurman said, “I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors of new Apple products appearing this week. More likely I think: an announcement of the upcoming (of course virtual) September iPhone/Apple Watch event.”
If Gurman is correct, it could still be an exciting day as fans will finally get to know when the new iPhone 12 will be unveiled.
So, what could be coming from Apple?
If all the rumours are true, it could be a gadget-filled keynote with reports suggesting that four new iPhones, an upgraded Apple Watch and new iPad Air may all be revealed. The iPhone 12 could get a faster processor, better 120Hz screen and the addition of super fast 5G network speeds.
If it’s the Apple Watch Series 6 you’re fancying, then expect a device to arrive with longer battery life, sleep tracking capabilities, and other health benefits such as checking oxygen levels in the blood. It’s also thought that Apple may introduce an entry-level Watch to replace the Series 3 that currently sells for £199 in the Apple Store line-up. Think of this Apple Watch model as the iPhone SE of Apple’s smartwatch range.
Finally, it’s thought the iPad Air will get a design that’s similar to the premium iPad Pro with a screen that features smaller bezels and ditches the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Whether the new iPad Air will keep the same £479 price tag remains to be seen.
As will all Apple events, the US firm has stayed tight-lipped about its upcoming products but it seems there may not be too long to wait until be find out more.
Express.co.uk will bring any news of an Apple September launch event just as soon as we hear more.
