Newcastle police fine 41-year-old woman £850 for travelling unnecessarily under new laws
A 41-year-old woman was arrested at Newcastle Central Station after failing to explain the reasons for her travel.
She will also face a fine of £850 – which also includes ticket fraud, according to local reports.
It is thought to be the first of its kind on the railways – with police across the country coming under the spotlight in recent days over their methods of implementing the government’s strict lockdown rules due to the coronavirus crisis.
