LBC radio announced the news on social media, and said the decision for Nigel Farage to step down was mutually agreed. They wrote on Twitter: “Nigel Farage’s contract with LBC is up very shortly and, following discussions with him, Nigel is stepping down from LBC with immediate effect. We thank Nigel for the enormous contribution he has made to LBC and wish him well.”
Mr Farage is yet to write his own statement on the matter.
People responded to the news by wishing the Brexit Party leader all the best.
One person wrote: “@NigelFarage sorry to hear you’ve stepped down from LBC, you’re one reason to listen as at least you had a voice… wish you all best.”
Another user suggested Mr Farage should launch another show.
They wrote: “Please Nigel start your own broadcast.
“It will be nice to have someone for us to listen to.
“Go to talk radio they are the best.”
A third person wrote: “Hope he will take some time off – he deserves a break. And then come back when he’s ready and revitalised.”
But other social media users were keen to see the politician leave, one person said: “Good. I despise Nigel Farage with every fibre of my being and I hope he’s no platformed by other media outlets from here on in.”
