Nintendo Switch down: Nintendo Online servers and eShop offline

Nintendo has confirmed that Switch servers are down tonight on a number of different platforms.

Connectivity problems were first flagged by gamers on Saturday, May 9 and appear to be continuing through the night.

A message from the support team confirms issues with Nintendo Switch servers, but problems are also affecting Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

“We are currently experiencing difficulties with our network services. Please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

“We are not performing maintenance on our servers at this time. For information about the maintenance that occurred due to network outages.”

As mentioned above, Nintendo Switch Online services have been affected by these current issues, meaning problems using Nintendo eShop.

One user writes: “Why do I keep getting errors on the eShop? I just want to get Nintendo Switch Online and all I get is error messages saying my dns settings aren’t working or something.”

Another adds: “Keep getting sporadic DNS/Server errors. The Switch IS connected to the Wi-Fi just fine it just seems to sporadically occur when I attempt to load the eshop. All other devices in my house are fine, it’s just the Switch.

“According to their online status they are having issues so I’m just going to wait until this issue is resolved.”
