Britons after some museums can head to the Mevagissey Museum, which offers holidaymakers a snapshot of life in the fishing village.

On Tripadvisor, David J said: “It is so well put together, that it is a treasure trove of different aspects of Mevagissey life.

“It really is a lovely place to see, and is right near the harbour, so not hard to find or get to.”

Mevagissey is also home to the World of Model Railways, which has more than 30 trains to look at.

The Aquarium is a charity project trying to bridge the gap “between the fishing industry and the general public”.

Visitors will see local species and discover the diversity of the local marine wildlife.

Tripadvisor user JCB said: “Lovely little aquarium reflecting local sea like. It’s not Sealife Florida but it’s a good aquarium depicting the life in the sea close to the harbour from Bass to Turbot and even a trigger fish it’s good to see what’s out there in the bays and harbours. It’s a credit to the town.”
