OnePlus fans finally know when the new OnePlus 8 will be revealed to the world. The Chinese tech firm has just announced that it will show off this latest flagship on April 14 with the event being beamed to fans across the globe via a live stream.
OnePlus is famed for its huge events which usually see fans arrive from the across the world to see what’s in store. However, like all tech companies, OnePlus has had to change things a little in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak and issues with travel and social distancing.
Although there won’t be the usual screaming crowds, OnePlus is boasting that this next-generation device will be one of its most powerful to date and will feature full 5G capabilities allowing users to access superfast data speeds when away from fixed-line broadband.
Another feature that’s been revealed is a newly engineered display with an incredible 120 Hz refresh rate. OnePlus says this will be introduced on at least one of its phone and is poised to deliver an even more fluid and immersive viewing experience.
“With the OnePlus 8 series, we’re excited to introduce our most powerful and beautiful smartphone series ever, combining blazing fast 5G capabilities, specially engineered high refresh rate displays and OnePlus’ signature powerful performance setup. The OnePlus 8 series will bring a truly ‘burdenless’ experience to all our users, who have come to expect nothing but the best all-around flagship smartphones from us,” said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus. “No detail is too small for us, as OnePlus always strives to deliver the best user experience possible with our premium flagship devices.”
Although not confirmed, there’s plenty of rumours which suggest that this new device will also get 30W wireless charging which, if true, would make the OnePlus 8 Pro the first and only OnePlus handset with the ability to charge without the firm’s signature red cable.
Plus, it seems the OnePlus 8 Pro will also come with an official IP rating against dust and water, another first for OnePlus.
We’re also expecting more power from the latest Qualcomm processor, better cameras and extended battery life.
Lucky, there’s not too long to wait until we find out full details with the big event taking place in just a couple of weeks time.
If you want to know more then you catch all the action via the stream which is being broadcast on the firm’s website and on YouTube.
OnePlus says things will kick off at 11am EST on April 14 – that’s 4pm BST.
