Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Rebecca English wrote on Twitter: “Meanwhile Prince Charles went to meet his new grandson, Archie-Harrison Mountbatten Windsor for the first time this afternoon. The prince visited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Frogmore Cottage.”
Charles returned from a day of royal engagements, attending the Forntnums Food and Drink Awards.
Meanwhile, royal corresponent Victoria Murphy tweeted: “Prince Charles travelled to Windsor this afternoon to meet his new grandson Archie.
“Earlier in the day he was at the Fortnums Food and Drink Awards where his commitment to supporting food and farming communities was recognised.”
Charles previously expressed his enthusiasm over meeting his grandson, saying he was “delighted” at the news of his birth.
During his official visit to Berlin, he told royal well-wishers: “We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return.”
Kate and William were the second royal pair to have visisted Archie, after the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
However, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis did not tag along with their parents – meaning the royal children will have to wait a little longer before they meet their baby cousin.
Ms English tweeted on Tuesday: “Just to confirm that William & Kate visited their new nephew, Archie Harrison, at Frogmore Cottage today after Prince Harry returned from Oxford. Their children weren’t with them, however, so it will be a little while yet before George, Charlotte and Louis meet their new cousin.”
Charles attended the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards in London earlier today, and was honoured with the Special Award for his commitment to supporting food and farming communities in the U.K.
The Prince of Wales is a strong advocate for the environment, and continuously campaigns to increase sustainability and preserve agriculture.
He founded Duchy Originals in 1990 in partnership with Waitrose, a brand only produces and sells sutainably organic products.
Charles said in his speech today: “Not everyone was entirely comfortable with the decisions I had taken,” he said to the audience which included chefs Ken Hom and Mary Berry.
“There was further outrage when I launched the first Duchy Originals product–a rather splendid oat biscuit which still sells well today. This earned me an outraged tabloid headline claiming that I was ‘A Shop-Soiled Royal!'”
Archie-Harrison Mountbatten Windsor was born at 5.26am on May 6 at Portland Hospital, weighing 7lbs 3oz.
Prince Harry announced the baby’s arrival a few hours after he was born in a live interview outside Frogmore Cottage.
The enthusiastic prince delivered a heartwarming speech, and told reporters: “We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
Asked what it was like to be present for the birth, he laughed and said: “I haven’t been at many births. This is definitely my first birth – it was amazing, absolutely incredible.”
