Prince William gives rare insight into family life with Prince George

This evening’s The One Show was presented by Alex Jones and Michael Ball. During the instalment, BBC One viewers were treated a pre-recorded segment which saw the Duke of Cambridge reach out to a shielded family over a video call. The special feature film focused on those who remain in coronavirus lockdown and the difficulties they face, but while talking to one family, Prince William revealed an insight into his own.

As the lockdown restrictions begin to ease across the UK, and the world starts to return to normality, many clinically extremely vulnerable individuals and families are still being advised to stay at home as much as possible.

During tonight’s The One Show, viewers tuned in to see those who are still being asked by the government to remain shielded, and the challenges they face.

As part of the film, one shielded family will received a very special video call from Prince William.

Leanne and her son Kaydyn have been isolated since the middle of March as Kaydyn suffers from Cystic Fibrosis.

Initially, Kaydyn was frustrated about being forced to stay inside – now he is very nervous about leaving the house.

Leanne discussed this anxiety her child felt with Prince William, but they were interrupted by Kaydyn wanting to show the heir to the throne his toys.

And when he did, Prince William revealed a rare insight into his son, Prince George’s own toy preferences.

“He’s showing you Chase from Paw Patrol now!” Leanna remarked.

“A lot of people will go back to work a lot more and we need to keep the focus on you guys who are shielding and finding it very difficult,” he added.

“People’s mental health will suffer because of this,” Leanne remarked.

“Absolutely,” The Duke agreed. “Katherine and I are thinking of you guys and hope this ends soon for you.”

After saying his goodbyes, The One Show viewers saw Alex and Michael comment on Prince William’s appearance.

“Thank you… of course to Prince William,” Alex remarked.

Michael added: “Isn’t Prince William lovely on those calls, he’s done a number of them now, really smashing.”

Those watching at home took to Twitter to comment on the Royal’s appearance.

One said: “@BBCTheOneShow massive respect to Prince William he is such a decent and fantastic Royal he’s down with the times & very caring #Theoneshow.”

“Prince William on @BBCTheOneShow how lovely, seems so very genuine too #mentalhealth,” another wrote.
