Prince William on The One Show: Duke in emotional special to surprise CF family

On Tuesday night, The One Show will be featuring a special film focusing on those who are still locked down at home, unable to go out.

During the special, Prince William will make a special appearance, surprising a mum and her son who have had a difficult time over the last three months.

The video will show Leanne and her son Kaydyn who have been isolated since the middle of March due to Kaydyn suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.

Initially, the little boy was frustrated about not being able to go outside and see his friends, but as the weeks have gone on he is now nervous about returning to some sort of normality, echoing the thoughts of millions who are still at home.

Since the two began shielding, they have only been outside twice for country walks, but they were thrilled when they received a call from the Duke of Cambridge.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been very vocal during this time about helping those who have been isolated the most and offered different help and guidance to those most in need.

The UK is heading into its fourteenth week in lockdown after the country was shut down back in March.

The lockdown has started to ease and Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now introduced “social bubbles”, so those who have been most alone can stay with their families again.

Shelby has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 meaning she’s on a ventilator 24 hours a day and due to her condition, making her extremely vulnerable when it comes to catching the virus.

The young woman said she has found it tough being at home with her dad, sister and step-mum, but found it the hardest not seeing her boyfriend.

In an emotional clip tomorrow, viewers will see the moment Shelby leaves the house to see her boyfriend for the first time since lockdown began.

Shelby told The One Show: “He had been feeling a little down so it was nice to see his face light up.”

She also said that she dreams of the day that she doesn’t have to worry about social distancing and can go out and meet with people again.

Alex Jones has been joined by a number of people since this all began such as Alex Scott.

Last week Alex was joined by Love Island’s Iain Sterling and this week Michael Ball will be in the studio co-hosting the BBC show.

They will welcome guests such as John Legend, Cat Stevens and Andy Murray.

The One Show airs on BBC One weekdays at 7.30pm.
