Viewers watching the Duke’s new mental health film, which was released on Thursday, reportedly spotted the touching accessory. During the BBC programme, Prince William was wearing a blue friendship bracelet while he discussed the “trauma” of losing his mother Princess Diana.
It is allegedly the same bracelet that the Duke had been gifted with his wife Kate Middleton on the royal tour of Pakistan last year.
During the couple’s trip to the SOS Children’s Village, which is an orphanage in Lahore, the Duchess was also gifted with a pink version of the accessory.
The blue bracelet could be seen beneath Prince William’s blazer sleeve in the film.
In the documentary, the Duke was filmed meeting heads of the Football Association, the English Football League and the country’s top division the Premier League to discuss his new Heads Up mental health campaign.
The film focusses on the campaign and followed Prince William for a year as he took his message to clubs across the country from grassroots level to the elite teams and players.
The Duke of Cambridge has been concerned about the number of male suicides and men’s struggles in opening up about their mental wellbeing.
He is using the popular sport to drive home his messages to the nation.
In the documentary, the Duke said: “Most men like football, involve themselves in football.
The couple visited a second time during the trip after rearranging plans due to bad weather.
At the time, speaking to CNN, the Duchess of Cambridge said: “William and I really wanted to come and see an SOS Children’s Village like this.
“There’s so many vulnerable women here but they’ve really used their positivity the support that the village here provides them to support and protect the next generation of children in their care and give them the best possible start to their future lives.”
According to CNN, this was the Duchess’ first official interview as a member of the Royal Family.
Previously, the last official interview Kate Middleton had done was in November 2010, soon after Prince William had proposed to her.
The Duchess also said that the royal tour was “fantastic”.
She said to CNN: “It’s been fantastic, we’ve seen a lot of Pakistan, a huge variety.
“It’s amazing seeing some of the geography but then to see some of the community activities like this has been really special.”
During the tour, the couple also visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital.
In 1996 and 1997, Princess Diana visited the same hospital on a trip to the country.
The Duke and Duchess went to a children’s ward at the hospital during their trip, spending time with patients undergoing treatment and speaking with their families.
