Sony has changed its usual format for announcing its PS Plus free games list for June 2020, meaning fans are waiting longer than usual to find out. This comes at the same time as a new PS4 leak suggesting what could be included in next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup. We know that Call of Duty WWII is available to download for free right now as part of the June 2020 PS Plus roster. But we don’t know what other titles Sony is planning to release next month for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
This information would usually be shared on the last Wednesday of the month, at around 4:30pm GMT.
But that hasn’t happened today, leaving gamers guessing when the next will be shared by the tech giant.
The official PS Plus blog covering May 2020 still lists final day to download Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 as Monday, 1st June.
So this would mean that June’s PS Plus free games are still on schedule to land on the first Tuesday of the month, June 2.
This means that Sony could share the news at any point from now, until June 2, 2020.
Some gamers were hoping the news would be shared after Wednesdays State of Play event for The Last of Us Part 2.
But it appears gamers will need to keep an eye on PlayStation’s social media account over the coming days for the news.
PS PLUS JUNE 2020 LEAKS?
While we already know that Call of Duty WWII is included in June’s PS Plus lineup, we don’t know what other titles are.
There have been rumours regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man, although these appear to be linked with a known PlayStation Store bug.
A more recent leak suggests that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be one of the free games offered on PS4.
This has been sourced from a teaser trailer that popped up on Instagram and doesn’t appear to have been staged.
Advertising for PlayStation Plus is the most common way games are leaked early, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see it happen now.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been linked with PS Plus a number of times in the past and would likely prove a popular inclusion.
Not only would it give gamers the chance to check out a game that has changed a lot since it was first released but it would also help drive up the player population.
It was just announced that EA is no longer planning big content expansions for the future, so it would make sense timing wise too.
But until Sony actually confirms its plans for PS Plus during June 2020, we won’t know exactly what is coming next.
As mentioned above, the May 2020 line-up includes Cities Skylines and Farming Simulator 19.
Similar to games like SimCity, Cities Skylines lets players build and manage their dream cities.
Scoring a respectable 81% on Metacritic, it’s undoubtedly the pick of the month, even if it wasn’t particularly well-received by subscribers.
Then there’s Farming Simulator 19, which gives players the opportunity to manage their own plot of land.
The game hasn’t fared as well on Metacritic, but it is something of a cult hit among gaming fans.
More news is expected from Sony in the coming days regarding its plans for PS Plus June 2020.
