PS Plus June 2020 update as Sony reveals big PlayStation Now subscriber news

While PS4 gamers might be waiting longer than usual to find out what the next free games will be, Sony has not held back on other big announcements. This includes the news that PlayStation’s other big subscription service, PS Now, has seen a major increase in subscriber numbers. A recent earning report from Sony reveals that 2.2 million people are now using the streaming service. This is a large increase over early 2019 figures and is good news for the company heading into such a big year.

A further statement from Sony adds: “Although there has been a slight impact on production of PS4 hardware due to issues in the component supply chain, demand in the short-term is being addressed with current inventory and sales are trending well.

“Sales of game software that is downloaded from the network, as well as PS Plus and PlayStation Now (PS Now) subscriber numbers have significantly increased.

“Regarding the launch of PlayStation 5, although factors such as employees working from home and restrictions on international travel have presented some challenges in regards to part of the testing process and the qualification of production lines, development is progressing with the launch of the console scheduled for the 2020 holiday season.

“At this point in time, major problems have not arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony’s own first-party studios or its partners’ studios.”

There has been no word yet on what new PS Plus free games are being planned for next month on PS4.

Fans have been sharing their own predictions of what could be included in the June 2020 free games list.

Two games that are mentioned a lot are Watch Dogs 2 from Ubisoft, and Frontier’s Jurassic World Evolution.

Many Sony first-party exclusives are also mentioned in the PS Plus predictions thread, including popular titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War.

Then there are games like Gravity Rush and Uncharted The Lost Legacy, which also seem like solid choices for the line-up.

With Sony previously giving away games like Uncharted, The Last of Us Remastered, Bloodborne and Shadow of the Colossus, there’s a strong chance another first-party game will make the cut.

Ahead of the big announcement, Sony has also confirmed its plans for Days of Play Sales event.

This will be returning on June 3 in the US and May 26 in the UK, and will be showcased by titles like Nioh 2, MLB The Show 20, and Days Gone.

Sony has also announced a number of PS Plus and PS Now discounts for the event, telling fans in a recent announcement:

“We’re thrilled to announce that Days of Play is back again this year with awesome deals to celebrate the passionate PlayStation community around the globe, and to thank you for all the support.

“Days of Play will kick off early at participating retailers in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other select regions starting 25th May, with promotions running through 8th June.

“What’s more, PlayStation Store will also be offering awesome deals for blockbuster games, along with deals on PS Plus and PS Now, from June 3-17.

“Stay tuned for more info here on PS Blog. Also to celebrate, the PlayStation Gear Store is offering a 20% discount on all full-priced merchandise using promo code DAYSOFPLAY20 (cannot be combined with other discounts).”
