PS4 exclusive heading to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch next month

PS4 games list has been dealt a blow with an exclusive making the jump to the rival Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles next month. The PS4’s incredible selection of exclusive games is arguably one of the biggest reasons Sony’s current console has been such a huge success this gen. There are so many great games that you can only experience on the PS4 – such as the recently released Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but that is just one of many.

From God of War, to Marvel’s Spider-Man, to Uncharted 4, to Horizon Zero Dawn, to Bloodborne, to Persona 5 Royal – the list goes on and on.

The PS4’s bumper release schedule for 2020 underlines how impressive the console’s exclusive offering is.

Three of the biggest games of the year – the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima – are only playable on PS4.

But while there are so many great exclusives on the PS4 there is one title, which previously could only be played on Sony’s console, that is crossing over.

Next month the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PCs will be getting a title that for over a year and a half was exclusive to the PS4.

On May 21 former PlayStation VR exclusive The Persistence will be launching on Microsoft and Nintendo’s consoles as well as on Steam.

The PS4 will also be getting a non-VR version, while the PC edition can be played with a range of virtual reality headsets or without.

It had previously been revealed that The Persistence would be launching on other formats, but the title’s release date was confirmed earlier this week.

The game’s makers Firesprite on Twitter posted: “We are excited to announce that @PlayPersistence, is launching on #NintendoSwitch, #PlayStation4, #XboxOne and #PC on May 21st!

“Do you have what it takes to survive a starship overrun with murderous, mutated creatures and make it out alive?”

The Persistence was first released back in July 2018 on PSVR only, and that version holds a 78 per cent Metacritic rating based on 28 reviews.

Among the highest scores was a review from Official PlayStation Magazine UK who said The Persistence is “stuffed with clever, creative ideas and brilliant weapons”.

While PlayStation Universe said the roguelike stealth and survival horror game is “something pretty special”.

Here are more details on it, taken from the game’s official blurb: “Survive aboard a doomed deep space colony starship, overrun with horrific and murderous aberrations.

“Explore, evade and fight your way through the depths to bring the ship back to Earth.

“Gather resources, upgrade abilities and fabricate an arsenal of weapons in this sci-fi horror roguelike.

“The Persistence challenges you, a clone of security officer Zimri Elder, to survive aboard a doomed deep space colony starship, overrun with horrific and murderous aberrations.

“You are the last survivor. Your mission? Restore functionality to the ship and somehow make your way back to Earth.”
