PS4 owners have been given a surprise treat this weekend, as Bandai Namco makes an iconic game available for free.
To encourage people to stay at home during the COVID-19 crisis, Bandai Namco is giving PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 away free of charge.
Just visit the PlayStation Store before May 10 in order to download the game at no cost.
Not only do you get to keep the game forever, but you don’t even have to be a PS Plus subscriber to take advantage of the deal.
The game is available to download until May 10, so download the game now before it’s too late.
“We’re asking fans to do their part and have More Fun For Everyone – at home!” reads a Bandai Namco tweet.
“To lend a hand, we’re sending our goodwill ambassador, PAC-MAN, into every household by making PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 free from 4/24 – 5/10!”
The stylish Pac-Man port features colourful 3D graphics and a whole host of game modes.
“Featuring eye-popping 3D graphics and funky visuals, the latest version of the classic game takes chomping and chasing through mazes to a whole new level!” reads a Namco post.
“Make up to four ghost trains for maximum chompage! New modes include Score Attack and an Adventure Mode with fast fleeing fruit, big bad bosses, ridiculous remixed rules, and more!”
The game has an impressive score of 77% on Metacritic, earning praise for its challenging gameplay and rhythmic action.
Sadly, the Nintendo Switch version isn’t available for free, but Xbox One and PC owners can also grab a copy for free.
PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 joins Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey as free game downloads on PS4.
It’s all part of Sony’s Stay at Home initiative, which encourages PS4 owners to isolate in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.
“People all over the world are doing the right thing by staying home to help contain the spread of COVID-19,” reads a Sony post.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone practicing physical distancing and take our responsibility as a home entertainment platform seriously, so we are asking our community to continue supporting the safe choice and the need to Play At Home.
“As a thank you to all who are doing their part to lessen the impact of this pandemic, Sony Interactive Entertainment is pleased to announce the Play At Home initiative.”
