PS4 gamers looking for a new demo to check out this weekend have something special waiting for them on the PSN.
Sony keeps dropping new content on the PlayStation Store, and most of the trials can be downloaded at no extra charge.
And this weekend is no exception, with the latest including Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
This demo version of the full game includes plenty of story mode for fans to get a taste of the overall gameplay.
The full game has been available to buy from the PSN for over a year, and this will make it easier to work out if you think it’s worth your time.
The platformer is one of the most recent instalments in the Wonder Boy series and received top reviews during its release back in 2018.
And while the full version requires around 5GB, the Monster Boy demo is much easier to fit on your console.
The Cursed Kingdom demo weighs in at under 2GB and is available to play today on PS4 and PS4 Pro.
The good news is that the Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom Demo includes the first chapter of the game.
And the development team at Game Atelier have also revealed that they have included bonus content.
According to a new post from the devs on social media, a bonus level has been added to the PS4 version.
The downside is that save data will not transfer over if you buy the full version from the PlayStation Store.
“A legendary series returns with a grand new adventure,” the official game description reads.
“Enjoy a colourful action-adventure game made alongside Ryuichi Nishizawa, creator of the original Wonder Boy in Monster World series.
“Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom borrows the best from the classic series to deliver a fresh, modern adventure with fun gameplay, memorable music and gorgeous hand-drawn animations.
“Can Jin save Monster World Kingdom? Help our young hero defeat challenging enemies, discover hidden locations, upgrade powerful equipment, and more!
“You’ll also unlock special forms with unique skills used to open new paths where mighty bosses and secret treasures await.”
And there are plenty of new paid-for games coming to the PlayStation platform this week if animated platformers aren’t your thing.
“Outer Wilds makes the jump to PS4, offering a mysterious universe for players to explore in 22-minute loops,” a message from PlayStation’s Justin Massongill confirms.
“I’m trying to go into this one as blind as possible so forgive me if this intro isn’t as descriptive as I usually write them.
“I think it’s safe to say the Jackbox Party Pack compilations have achieved “legendary” status at this point, right?
“The legendary Jackbox Party Pack series returns with its sixth set of party games, including Trivia Murder Party 2, the excellently named Dictionarium, and a whole bunch more.
“Finally, Return of the Obra Dinn puts PS4 players in the boots of an insurance investigator (stay with me) equipped with a time-altering device assigned the unenviable task of finding out just what happened to the crew of the titular ship.”
And for PS Plus gamers, there are still the free games from October available to download.
This includes The Last of Us 2 Remastered and MLB 19 The Show for PS4.
