PS4 system update 7.51 is out: Here’s what PlayStation download does

PS4 system update 7.51 was released on May 27, 2020, with the latest major PlayStation download offering minimal patch notes. Having gone through the beta process, the small firmware update can be found waiting for you when trying to access the PlayStation Store or other core services. And while it might include a lot of smaller background changes, it doesn’t look to contain much in the way of new features.

So fans hoping the PS4 download brings with it major new features look set for disappointment.

It appears PS4 system update 7.51 is a download that mainly improves performance.

The official patch notes from Sony reveal very little and contain the usual message regarding what it aims to achieve.

The PS4 system update 7.50 message states: “This system software update improves system performance.”

The latest PS4 patch weighs in at 471.4MB and shouldn’t take long to download, even with the current PlayStation limitations.

For those wondering why things are taking a little longer to install, Sony revealed its plans to manage download speeds.

“Playing videogames enables players all over the world to connect with friends and family and enjoy much needed entertainment during these uncertain times,” the message from Sony confirms.

“Sony Interactive Entertainment is working with internet service providers in Europe to manage download traffic to help preserve access for the entire internet community.

“We believe it is important to do our part to address internet stability concerns as an unprecedented number of people are practising social distancing and are becoming more reliant on internet access.

“Players may experience somewhat slower or delayed game downloads but will still enjoy robust gameplay. We appreciate the support and understanding from our community, and their doing their part, as we take these measures in an effort to preserve access for everyone.

“we will take similar measures in the United States, and we will continue to take appropriate action to do our part to help ensure internet stability as this unprecedented situation continues to evolve. We are grateful for the role we play in helping deliver a sense of community and entertainment in these very trying times. Thank you again for your support, your patience, and for being part of the PlayStation community. Please stay home and stay safe.”

More news regarding the PS4 will be announced by Sony this week as they look to reveal the new PS Plus games for June.

We already know that the lineup will contain Call of Duty WWII for a limited time but fans are wondering what other titles will be included.

Recent rumours suggest Star Wars Battlefront 2, however, this remains an unverified report at this time.
