PS5 and Xbox Series X fans have been teased that BioWare are working on the next entry in one of their “prestigious” franchises. A new job listing has revealed that the Mass Effect makers are looking for a technical director to work on the “next major title” in a BioWare series. The spec for the role, which is based out of Canada, does not mention the name of the series the successful candidate will be working on.
But fans of the Mass Effect, Dragon Age or Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic IPs will surely be hoping for new entries in these series.
The job advert says: “You will be the most senior engineering lead on the next major title in one of BioWare’s most prestigious franchises, and a contributing leader to BioWare studio strategy.
“You will partner with the other disciplines to build the technology and the programming team to deliver amazing player experiences.”
No specific platforms were mentioned for the project, but if BioWare are recruiting now then it is likely to be a next-gen game.
The most likely scenario is the job advert is referring to Dragon Age 4, which a recent earnings call revealed is scheduled for a 2022 release.
But there have been hints that a Knights of the Old Republic remake is in the works while Mass Effect fans will surely be hoping for a new game.
The last Mass Effect game was 2017’s Andromeda, which received a mixed critical and fan reception.
Gamers will surely be hoping that isn’t the final entry in the series and a new title will bring the beloved IP back to its former glory.
The news comes as Mass Effect fans have been left wondering if BioWare is teasing a new game in the series.
On the official BioWare Twitter a song from the game’s soundtrack was posted as part of the #MassRelays series.
Alongside the tweet BioWare posted: “The infinite possibilities of space have always been inspiring to us. Sit back and think of the cosmos with our next song in the Mass Effect music series. #MassRelays”.
The video has been viewed more than 85,000 times, and responding to it fans have been letting BioWare know what they want from the Mass Effect series in the future.
Some have been calling on BioWare to release a Mass Effect remastered trilogy compilation for the PS4 and Xbox One.
While others have been calling on BioWare to release a new Mass Effect game that is not a sequel to Andromeda.
Responding to the tweet one fan posted: “We need a Mass Effect trilogy remaster.”
Another wrote: “Only a matter of time before it returns”.
One added: “Mass Effect trilogy remaster on all platform please”.
And another tweeted: “I hope this is a hint of a new part of ME?”
