PS5 games NEWS: Iconic series tipped for SHOCK return on next-gen PlayStation

A gaming classic could make a return on Sony’s next-gen PlayStation 5 console.

According to new reports online, Square Enix could be teaming up with Bluepoint to bring back Legacy of Kain.

Bluepoint has become a specialist when it comes to remakes and remasters, having previously worked on Shadow of the Colossus for PS4, Gravity Rush Remastered, and Uncharted Collection.

Based on a new report over on 4Chan, Bluepoint and Square Enix are working on Legacy of Kain Remake.

Presumably coming to next-gen consoles, the rumoured remake is said to re-propose the plot of the original game in a faithful way.

Needless to say, the big difference will be in the gameplay stakes, where Legacy of Kain Remake will have a modern edge.

The Remake has the main objective of re-proposing the plot of the original game in an extremely faithful way, but at the same time of reimagining its gameplay in a more modern key.

“Square Enix ‘s goal is to bring it closer to a system similar to today’s Souls games, but keeping its adventure game focus and also preserving the environmental puzzles.”

The Dark Souls comparisons are particularly interesting, especially with rumours that Bluepoint is also working on a Demon’s Souls remake.

The developer will also reportedly draw on its experiences from the Shadow of the Colossus Remake.

“A project that Bluepoints team particularly care about, and which is getting technical results very similar to those obtained with Shadow of the Colossus, with a really evocative experience of the environment of the game,” the post adds.

Sony’s next-gen console will support 8K resolution, ray-tracing technology and have much faster loading times.

The speedy (or non-existent) loading times are possible thanks to the specialised solid-state drive, which will make a huge difference to processing speeds.

In Spider-Man on a PS4 Pro, for example, it can take upwards of 15 seconds to fast travel from one location to another. The PS5, on the other hand, will be able to handle the same task in less than a second.

Worlds can also be rendered at far greater speeds, which should inject more pace into games.

The next-gen PlayStation console will also ship with a brand new controller.

The DualSense controllers will feature “highly programmable voice-coil actuators located in the left and right grips of the controller”, which will provide all-new controller feedback sensations.

The controller will be able to provide different sensations when running in sand compared to swimming in water or moving over a wooden bridge.

The DualSense will also benefit from adaptive triggers, which will greatly benefit shooting games.

Adaptive triggers will provide varying levels of resistance depending on the in-game experience. Tension will increase when firing a bow, for example.
