Having spanned the globe an impressive 42 times in total during her life, Queen Elizabeth II unsurprisingly has the art of world travel down. This includes her packing list, and it seems there are some items she never jets off without.
In fact, one of these items is not only an element of “style,” it has a more practical use too.
As part of her iconic style, Queen Elizabeth is rarely seen without globes to compliment her colourful ensemble.
However, it seems there is far more to this wardrobe addition than looking chic.
It seems long before the coronavirus pandemic, her Majesty was thinking about the spread of germs when shaking hands with so many foreign dignitaries and members of the public during her travels.
Of course, in the age of social distancing, this is likely a problem the Queen no longer faces.
However, given her renowned style, the gloves are an asset that will surely remain a part of her iconic look.
Gloves are not the only important item to feature on Queen Elizabeth’s packing list, though.
In fact, she also has some rather unexpected additions to her tours.
This includes possessions of the edible variety.
According to former pilot of the royal plane Graham Laurie, the monarch had a particular appetite for Fray Bentos tinned pies.
So much so, in fact, that she would request them to be packed for her inflight meal.
Speaking as part of Channel 5 documentary ‘Secrets of the Royal Flight’, the pilot said: “Do you know, they used to love it.
“I think it’s such a lovely change from all that fancy food which comes first class!”
The pies cost just £2.50 to purchase in supermarkets and come in a range of flavours including steak and kidney, and minced beef and onion.
However, she also has some more luxurious packing requests.
According to former royal spokesperson Dickie Arbiter, Malvern water is one item which is often included on the list.
In the Channel 5 documentary, former royal spokesperson Dickie Arbiter stated: “The only thing the Queen requests to have wherever she is is Malvern Water.
“She likes Malvern water, it’s refreshing and they usually take lots of it with her.”
