Remainer Femi shut down by furious Carole Malone with brilliant no deal Brexit point

While on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine show Mr Oluwole argued the UK was moving closer towards a no deal Brexit as the EU was growing frustrated with the prospect a trade deal may not come with detailed rules. Ms Malone responded by insisting the UK would get a deal despite the doubts of Remainers. She added Mr Oluwole has been doubting the UK getting any agreements throughout the Brexit process.

She added the work of Nicola Sturgeon and Mark Drakeford could prove detrimental to the overall talks.

Mr Oluwole said: “It is not in the EU’s interest to give us a deal that does not come with rules attached.

“So that is why even though we originally agreed to follow similar rules to the EU under the Brexit political declaration, right now we are rejecting that.

“We are now rejecting our own deal and therefore heading towards a no deal.”

Ms Malone snapped back she did not believe the UK was heading towards a no deal and highlighted how the Brexit talks would continue.

She said: “We didn’t leave Europe, we left the European Union which is a series of agreements.

“That is what is going to be hammered out over the next few months.”

Ms Malone then accused leaders of devolved areas in the UK of jeopardising the success of Brexit talks.

“Otherwise it is totally unfair.”

Ms Malone replied: “Jeremy, whatever Femi is saying now is what he has been saying for a very long time.

“He said it long before the withdrawal was passed.

“The bottom line is I think we will get a deal and I think we will get a tariff-free deal.

“I can’t argue what will happen if we don’t because I don’t believe that will be the case, we will get a deal.”
