Royal snub: Prince Charles’ pal praises ‘impeccable’ Kate but slams Meghan Markle

Stefanie Powers is best known for her role on 80s sitcom Hart to Hart but also became a close friend of Prince Charles. However, slammed the Duchess of Sussex for trying to turn the Royal Family into her “personal TV show”.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, Ms Powers said: “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’ ‘The Adventures of Meghan in the Palace’.

“[Meghan] wants to be a star, which, I’m sorry, is not what she is supposed to be doing. Meghan’s role is not about being a star.

“It’s her job to be Harry‘s wife, not change the royal dynamic.”

She also took a swipe at Meghan’s time on Suits, calling her a “bit player in a minor television series.”

Although she criticised Meghan, she had only praise for Kate.

She said Kate was “impeccable” and never put a “foot wrong.”

Ms Powers continued: “She has stepped back, and doesn’t make a circus of life whenever she steps out.

“She’s the real thing. She’s kind of mischievous. She has a wicked twinkle.”

Speaking on the Jeremy Vine show, host Anne Diamond discussed how Meghan Markle was given a strong warning ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry.

Left-wing journalist Owen Jones had described the media’s coverage of Mrs Markle as “obsessive”.

Diamond hit back at Jones, saying: “She was warned.

“So many people warned her about what happens if you marry into the royal family.

“You get that sort of publicity.”

This comes as the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson revealed her own sympathises with the embattled royal.

Meghan Markle has admitted she has struggled with her new royal role this year.

In October, she opened up about the difficulties of public scrutiny with intense tabloid interest.

She told ITV’s Tom Bradby that not many people had even asked if she was “okay”.

Also in Meghan and Harry: An African Journey, the Duchess added: “It’s not enough to just survive something, that’s not the point of life. You have got to thrive.”
