On Monday, environmental activists occupied nearly a dozen sites across London, including Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Waterloo Bridge. Police have made more than 1,100 arrests in connection to the protests over the past five days.
The London Mayor was attacked by Shaun Bailey, the Conservative candidate for London Mayor, who accused him of “hiding under his desk”.
Mr Bailey said: “Extinction Rebellion, your point has been made.
“There is a climate emergency, but we also have a crime emergency.
“You can’t distract the police any further while we have had two fatal stabbings.
“If Sadiq Khan is too busy hiding under his desk to tell you that, then I will.”
The next London mayoral election takes place on May 7 next year.
Extinction Rebellion are demanding the UK becomes carbon neutral by 2025.
