Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 release update, patch 1.1 latest

Square Enix has just launched their biggest game of the year, with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake out now on the PS4. Arguably the most demanded game of the century, FF7R launched on Friday and ends an almost two decade long wait for the remake of the PS1 classic. And all that time spent twiddling your thumbs till it arrived was worth it with Square Enix delivering a spectacular experience with the FF7 Remake.
Express.co.uk were lucky enough to play Final Fantasy 7 Remake early and awarded it a full five star rating in our review.
Now that it is out though fans may be left wondering when the next instalment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project will be landing.
Square Enix has decided to adopt an episodic approach with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake meaning the story will be covered in multiple parts.
It’s unclear how many parts there will be in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project and when the next instalment will get released.
“We have our own internal schedule and plan, but for now we’d like to focus our information on the first game in the project.”
While in November Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that development on Part 2 had already begun.
Nomura-san said: “We’ve already begun working on the next one as well, but I’m confident that playing through this title will expand your expectations just like the world that extends beyond Midgar.”
It remains to be seen when Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 will launch, but it likely will be a few years away.
A comparable project that Square Enix undertook prior to FF7R was the Final Fantasy 13 games which ended up being a trilogy.
Those games, which also were produced by Kitase-san, ended up having a two year gap in-between launches.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a far more advanced and detailed project than that so a longer wait inbetween instalments could be likely.
If we had to put our eggs in one basket, we’d estimate that Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be three years away.
That is given how long FF7R took to make, and that development should be sped up by the game’s engine, assets and combat system all being in place now.
However, we’ll have to wait and see if fans end up getting a longer – or shorter – wait for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.
In other FF7R news those that got the blockbuster JRPG at launch had been hoping for a day one patch to arrive.
But as of yet a Final Fantasy 7 Remake update 1.1 download is still yet to become available.
It remains to be seen when this patch, which would likely offer fixes and other performance improvements, ends up landing.
FF7R fans will surely be hoping they won’t be dealt the same fate as Final Fantasy 14 gamers.
Players of the hugely popular MMORPG have been told the release of the game’s next patch has been delayed due to the coronavirus.
