There is increasing speculation that Palpatine laid dreadful plans before his apparent death. The recent images of the new Red Sith troopers have many convinced they follow Palpatine, not the First Order. There is growing speculation that an entire armada lies hidden out in the Unknown Regions. There is also growing dread that the Emperor has still somehow been manipulating events for the past few decades, biding his time. There are some theories that he did not actually die, but fans increasingly believe he is using Sith powers to influence the living in the most horrifying way. Was he seriously right there all along in Episode 7 and 8?
The mystery surrounding Matt Smith’s ‘will he – won’t he?’ appearance in The Last Jedi has prompted many to suggest he might play a Dark Side acolyte who is possessed by Palpatine using Essence Transfer, also referred to as Transfer Essence or Transfer Life, a power of the ancient Sith Lords. Previously, this was confined to Legends but became Canon with the possessed mask of Lord Momin in the Darth Vader comic book series.
But what about The Force Awakens and Last Jedi? It is no surprise all roads appear to lead back to Snoke. His past was never explained, nor his enormous power.
And why exactly was Palpatine’s Theme played during that Last Jedi Throne Room scene where Snoke attempts to subvert Rey before Kylo Ren kills him?
Was Snoke possessed by Palpatine all along? Numerous fan comments have suggested this and one Redditor offers a series of powerful points to support the argument.
The theory (via INVERSE) starts with the Palpatine theme and expands the theory to point out the use of Force lightning was the Emperor’s favourite weapon.
As well as the musical clues in that scene, the filmmakers are also repeating the entire sequence from The Return of the Jedi. Palpatine’s overconfidence is what gets him killed. He also drops his guard against his old apprentice, dismissing Vader (and then Kylo Ren) as he seeks to convert a new one.
Snoke is behaving exactly the same way as Palpatine. And he was doing so long before that scene.
The theory also suggests that Palpatine was communing with Kylo Ren through Vader’s old helmet. Was he also manipulating Kylo long before that, planting the seeds in his fragile mind since he was a child, or even in the womb?
Snoke admits he created the bond between Kylo and Rey. These kind of mind games were also the trademark of Palpatine.
Was Snoke always Palpatine all along? Only a few months to go until we find out…
