Twin co-creators The Duffer Brothers created the perfect ride through 80s nostalgia, and the series has only increased in popularity throughout Stranger Things’ three seasons.
As the coronavirus pandemic has kept TV fans indoors, the action-packed sci-fi show has become the perfect content to consume during the ongoing lockdown.
Some fans have come to the show for the first time late, whilst others have been perfecting their predictions for season four by combing over each episode multiple times.
Netflix managed to get subscribers’ creative juices flowing with the release of the first teaser trailer for Stranger Things season four back in February.
The short clip revealed fan favourite character, Sheriff Jim Hopper, had actually survived the explosion in the Russian facility and is currently being held captive in a Soviet Labour camp.
Following the trailer’s release, fans have taken to online discussion forums to predict how Hopper could eventually make it back to his home town of Hawkins, Indiana.
One new fan to the series took to Reddit to outline their detailed predictions for how Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray (Brett Gelman) could rescue Hopper in season four.
Before the coronavirus outbreak stalled television production, both Winona and Brett were reported to have been spotted filming for the series in Lithuania.
These reports have fuelled several theories predicting the reluctant duo will team up to liberate Hopper from his imprisonment, with the Eastern European country standing in as the backdrop for the USSR.
Redditor CelestialChaos25 posted: “Then, back in Hawkins, Mike and Nancy work to keep up their long distance relationships with El and Jonathan, and are planning to go visit for the holiday (whatever it may be) when something comes up, the new mystery, and they have to cancel but tell them to come to Hawkins ASAP.”
Season three left the Hawkins gang on a bittersweet note, and the cast could begin the next instalment scattered across the country.
However, this theory suggests a new mystery will bring most of the team back to Hawkins, leaving it up to Joyce and Brett to bring back Hopper.

They continued: “Anyway, so in like episode 5-6 range (since this season will have 9 eps), Jonathan, Will, and El (and maybe someone new they met wherever they now live) will drive back to Hawkins to help.
“Meanwhile Joyce and Murray go to Russia to help Hopper (since Murray and Joyce’s actors were filming in Lithuania).”
Joyce concluded season three having left Hawkins with Will (Noah Schnapp), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).
Despite their new life away from their home town, a cryptic new clue could tip Joyce off to Hopper’s survival and set off an elaborate rescue plan.
Additionally, other fans have predicted the return of Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser), who was promoted to Director of Operations for Hawkins Lab in season two.
This fan also suggested Dr. Owens could hold the key to rescuing Hopper back from his Soviet prison.
They added: “So I expect Murray, Joyce, and maybe Dr. Owens to help find and rescue him. His reunion with El especially will be very emotional and I can’t wait. I hope he and Joyce end up together.”
Stranger Things seasons 1-3 are available on Netflix.
