The majority of stores were operating with reduced opening hours, but these have since been extended.

The retailer confirmed priority shopping hours are still in place in a post shared on Twitter.

It said: “You may have heard that some retailers are stopping their priority shopping hours.

“We wanted to reassure you that, at Morrisons, we’re continuing to open our stores early every day for our NHS workers and our next day Doorstep Delivery service continues for the elderly and vulnerable.”

Asda opening times

Asda has extended opening hours in many branches and customers can shop between 7am and 12am Monday to Saturday.

A post on its Twitter page said: “Most of our stores are now open for longer to allow you more time to shop with us – stores will now be open Monday – Saturday 8am – 10pm.

“Normal Sunday trading hours will remain the same.”

Marks & Spencer opening times

M&S Foodhall opening times in most stores have not changed during the pandemic.

However, vulnerable customers can visit the stores an hour before everyone else on Mondays and Thursdays, with emergency workers getting priority access on Tuesdays and Fridays.

A M&S statement read: “M&S will help ensure its older and more vulnerable customers can access the food and products they need by reserving the first hour of trading for them at all of its owned stores.”

Sainsbury’s opening times

Opening times have been extended with most branches opening between 7am and 10pm.

The supermarket giant has also updated when vulnerable customers and emergency workers can shop.

While they no longer have reserved hours, Sainsbury’s are still offering priority shopping.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Customers can also now shop with us at any time but NHS and care workers will still have priority entry from 7:30am to 8am Monday to Saturday and elderly, vulnerable and disabled customers will still have priority entry from 8am to 9am Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

“Customers are increasingly shopping with us at different times throughout the day and so we have now extended some of our opening hours. Customers can check our store locator for details.”
