Tower Bridge closed: Armed police shut London landmark over fears of ‘suspicious package’

Traffic and pedestrians are being kept away from the central London crossing, with police taping off the entrance to the bridge. A spokesman for City of London police told Express.co.uk officers were in attendance following reports of a “suspicious package”. 

Pictures from the scene show a number of armed police are in attendance.

City of London Police’s wrote on Twitter: “Tower Bridge is currently closed to traffic and pedestrians, whilst we investigate an incident on the bridge.

“Please find alternative routes. Thank you for your patience.”

The bridge has now reopened.
