Toy Story 4 was the sequel fans were never promised but hoped might come to fruition. Then, in 2014, a Toy Story fourquel was officially announced. Five years later, what is believed to be the final piece of the Woody and Buzz story is heading to cinemas.
When will Toy Story 4 scores and reviews be revealed?
The Toy Story 4 reviews embargo lifts today, Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 9am Pacific Standard Time.
For those in the UK, the reviews go up online at 5pm British Summer Time.
Once reviews go live, Rotten Tomatoes takes some time to process their scores.
Metacritic, which offers weighted average scores, gave a rundown of their past Toy Story coverage.
The first Toy Story movie holds the highest score at 95 on the site.
Toy Story 2 had a dip, with a score of 88, but Toy Story 3 brought the franchise back up with a 92.
Fans of Toy Story – and betting – have taken to Reddit to posit what the scores will be.
One user claimed the fourquel could get 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, while another said 98 percent.
Other fans were more circumspect, with one guessing a range of 85 to 95 percent.
One fan made a guess at the Metacritic score, saying it would get 85 or higher.
Another user claimed to have seen the movie at its premiere on Thursday, June 12.
They wrote: “I’d probably guess somewhere between 92 to 95 percent-ish.”
First reactions to Toy Story 4 posted on Twitter have so far been overwhelmingly positive.
As for how critics feel Toy Story 4 compares to other films, they said:
Toy Story 4 is super satisfying and features some of the funniest and most emotional moments in the franchise.
Toy Story 4 is another fantastic entry in the series and the one instalment that feels most like an adventure movie.
A tightly paced narrative that harkens back to the feeling of the original two films…Honestly my second favourite in the series and one of Pixar’s finest.
