Last year, several scam warnings were issued after fraudsters targeted members of the public, promising low-cost loans or grant from the government.
Horrifyingly, the scammers instead applied for a Universal Credit advance payment, taking a cut for themselves as a “fee”.
Following the scam, victims would face having to pay back the total amount of the advance.
