Today will be the first time gamers will have the chance to score a Valorant Closed Beta key by watching Twitch. As revealed earlier this year, Riot Games is teaming up with Twitch for sign ups, meaning you’ll need a Twitch account for an opportunity to play. This means registering for a Riot account, link your Riot account to a Twitch account, and then watching specific Valorant streams highlighted on Twitch.
The first of these will be held as part of the Twitch Rivals Valorant Showcase, which is scheduled to be held today, April 3, 2020.
A message from Twitch confirms: “Twitch Rivals will showcase 5v5 matches from content creators who got a chance to try out VALORANT and recorded their perspective.
“On Friday, some of those Twitch streamers will play back their perspective of the match, in realtime, together. The /TwitchRivals broadcast will jump from perspective to perspective to showcase the full match.
“Select Twitch streams will be eligible for Drops beginning on April 3, so link your Twitch Account & Riot Games Account for the opportunity to get exclusive Closed Beta Access starting on April 7th.
“Look for the “Drops Enabled” tag, as well as the “Drops are enabled! Continue watching” text below the stream for verified Drops enabled channels.”
As mentioned above, gamers will need to be watching one of the streams with a Drops Enabled tag assigned to it.
And it should also be noted that a limited number of Closed Beta keys will be available to those tuning in, so not everyone will be guaranteed a chance.
It should also be noted that only certain regions will be able to join in on the Valorant closed beta when it kicks off next week.
This means you will need to be playing from either Canada, United States, Russia, Turkey, or Europe.
However, more regions are expected to be added ahead of the full Summer release of Valorant.
WHAT TIME DOES THE VALORANT TWITCH RIVALS SHOWCASE START?
According to the latest news from Twitch and Riot Games, the new Valorant Twitch Drops event will begin at 10am PT, on the streaming service.
This will mean Twitch Rivals kicking off at 6pm GMT for gamers in the UK, with another event being held on April 7.
This first wave of matches will be EMEA Creators, including Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions.
The match schedule will feature best-of-1 matches in each region, and all Twitch Partners are welcome to co-stream the Twitch Rivals broadcast.
It should be noted that another wave of Twitch Rivals Creator Matches will be kicking off today at the later time of 1:30pm PT.
This second wave of matches will feature North American Creator Matches.
