Her time at the BBC sparked her interest in TV and for many years she worked on various shows including Parkinson, Crackerjack and the royal concerts.
However, this did not last forever and soon Virginia trained as a complementary therapist in reflexology and holistic massage with aromatherapy, and ran her own complementary therapy business.
The family were incredibly close, and for many years Dame Vera and Harry lived next door to her daughter and son-in-law Tom Jones, a retired RAF pilot.
