Struggling to find something to watch this weekend? Thankfully, Virgin Media has launched a new addition to its ever-expanding portfolio of streaming services and catch-up apps built into the TV V6 set-top box. Following the arrival of my5 earlier this month, Virgin Media has now added All 4 – the on-demand service from Channel 4.
From this week, Virgin Media viewers will be able to experience the full All 4 experience for the first time, which boasts a number of boxsets on-demand and Film4 movies to binge. Until now, Virgin Media subscribers have only been able to access catch-up content supplied by Channel 4 to the TV V6 box, which doesn’t include the same extensive library.
All 4, which is also available as a standalone app on your iPhone, Android, iPad and in your web browser, has recently dramatically expanded the number of boxsets available to keep millions staying home during the ongoing public health crisis entertained. The new slate includes iconic Channel 4 series as well as original and exclusive shows, including US acquisitions like Scrubs, Freaks and Geeks, Seinfeld and ER. Features channels baked into All 4 include the likes of Adult Swim.
Of course, there’s also catch-up from all of Channel 4’s broadcast channels, like More 4, E4, Film 4, and Channel 4 HD.
This means you’ll have one-click access to much-loved shows like Friday Night Dinner, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Inbetweeners; reality TV from Gogglebox, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and Made in Chelsea; as well as popular titles such as Hollyoaks, Celebs Go Dating, The Great British Bake Off and many others.
Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, David Bouchier said: “The addition of the All 4 app means that we now have fully integrated versions of all the major UK streaming apps on our TV platform. This is great news for our customers who have everything they need in one place, making it even faster and easier to watch the TV shows and movies they love whenever they want.”
All 4 is available right now – joining an impressive smörgåsbord of video on-demand services packed into the set-top box. Virgin Media has already dedicated BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more. Not only that, but streaming Netflix on Virgin Media TV V6 will be in Ultra HD and HDR quality, something not possible with rival Sky Q.
The news comes as Virgin Media TV V6 owners were able to stream the full My5 experience. The My5 service, which is also available on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, is home to a wide range of programming, including original content such as Neighbours spin-off Erinsborough High, and first-run UK exclusives including The Oath and Bloom.
The on-demand platform also houses a variety of shows from US networks, including A+E Networks UK’s channel BLAZE, as well as ViacomCBS sister networks BET and Smithsonian Channel. These boast exclusive shows you won’t find elsewhere.
