Virgin Media viewers just gained hundreds more FREE shows and films to binge on

Virgin Media TV V6 viewers have gained hundreds more television shows and films to keep them busy while staying at home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Channel 5 has brought its My5 catch-up and on-demand service to the TV V6 box.

It’s available right now – joining an impressive smörgåsbord of video on-demand services packed into the set-top box. Virgin Media has already dedicated BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Curzon Home Cinema, Hayu, and more. Not only that, but streaming Netflix on Virgin Media TV V6 will be in Ultra HD and HDR quality, something not possible with rival Sky Q.

So, My5 is in good company.

The My5 service, which is also available on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, is home to a wide range of programming, including original content such as Neighbours spin-off Erinsborough High, and first-run UK exclusives including The Oath and Bloom.

The on-demand platform also houses a variety of shows from US networks, including A+E Networks UK’s channel BLAZE, as well as ViacomCBS sister networks BET and Smithsonian Channel. These boast exclusive shows you won’t find elsewhere.

The My5 launch is part of a deal between Viacom CBS Networks (VCN) and Virgin Media in the UK and Ireland. The carriage deal between the two involves VCN UK providing leading networks MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Paramount Network to Virgin Media, as well as associated catch up rights and box sets.

David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, said: “The My5 app will give our customers access to even more great content and the integrated search will make it easier to find the shows that they love most. This is all part of providing our customers with the most streamlined experience possible with all of their favourite programmes and apps in one place.”
