At the beginning of the series he weighed in at 19st 7lb, giving him an unhealthy BMI of 35.
Training soon helped the TV chef improve his fitness and a staggering five stone in his two-week stint on the show.
Speaking after he left the show, James explained he was determined to stay healthy.
“It’s hard work because I’m a big bloke,” he told Mail Online.
“So I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly.”
