'Where is he?!' Keir Starmer shamed by Susanna Reid over missing 'open goal' for Labour

GMB presenter Susanna Reid has savaged the Labour Party Deputy Leader Angela Rayner over her party’s failure to capitalise on the scandal which engulfed Health Secretary Matt Hancock on Friday. Ms Reid claimed Keir Starmer had been offered an “open goal” after Mr Hancock was forced to resign after footage of him breaking social distancing rules with a close aide was revealed last week.

GMB presenter Susanna Reid Said: “If Keir was out on the airwaves today, that Monday after such a massive scandal that might help because then voters would know who Keir Starmer is and what he stand for.

“I mean it was an open goal for your leader.

“The story broke on Friday and then there was Saturday, and then finally we saw a little bit of Keir Starmer on tape yesterday.

“Where is he!?”

Ms Rayner responded: “As you say Keir Starmer was out yesterday and he has been pressing the Government.

“He has been pressing them at Prime Minister’s Questions as well

“And you know there is one thing that we tried to do right at the start of this which is we tried to be constructive and we have done that time and time again.”

It comes as Keir Starmer’s Deputy was pressed on the upcoming by-election in Batley and Spen with Labour Party predicted to lose the seat to the Conservatives.

“I have seen that he has allowed that at the heart of Government now as well,” continued the Labour MP.

“I don’t know why people voted for Boris Johnson.

“I’ve been listening to it but I believe the Labour Party would do a better job.”

Ms Reid interrupted to add: “If I could give you a suggestion, it would be that if Keir Starmer was out on the airwaves today, a Monday after such a massive scandal, that might help. Then voters would know who Keir Starmer is and what he stands for.”
