Why your OnePlus smartphone will look massively inferior TOMORROW

OnePlus owners might want to look away later this week. The Chinese tech firm is holding a major event in just a few days time and it could make all of its previous devices look mightily inferior. The OnePlus 8 will be announced on Tuesday, April 14 during an event which will be live-streamed across the globe. Although full details will be revealed at the keynote, OnePlus has already given a glimpse of some of the features that will be included and this new smartphone certainly looks like one to watch out for,

Over the past few weeks, we’ve discovered that the OnePlus 8 will include a 120Hz fluid display which has already been crowned a winner by the team at DisplayMate who rated it the highest ever grade of A+.

Along with 120Hz technology, OnePlus has also revealed several other cutting-edge screen features including motion estimate and motion compensation (MEMC) for a much smoother video playback experience and 10-bit colour for a more accurate display of colours across the spectrum.

OnePlus has confirmed plans to bring wireless charging to its next flagship smartphone series

The firm had always maintained it wouldn’t implement the technology into its phones until it could achieve the same speeds and efficiencies as its fast-wired solution, dubbed Warp Charge.

However, with the OnePlus 8 series, it seems that the five-year-old company has managed to create a wireless charging system that has enough of the speed benefits of wired charging to be worthy of inclusion. In a blog post detailing the benefits of its new wireless charging system, OnePlus says it will operate at 30W.

Another major boost coming to this device is the latest and hugely powerful brains from Qualcomm

In a recent post on OnePlus’ Community forum, company CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 platform. That’s not surprising seeing as OnePlus devices past have all used the latest silicon from the American manufacturer.

This chip should not only make the new phone much faster but also far more efficient with battery life expected to see some big gains.

So, the OnePlus 8 will have wireless charging, a better screen and improved power but we can also expect a few surprises as well.

Expect a rear and front camera upgrade plus a faster embedded fingerprint scanner and a refreshed design.

It’s worth noting that if any of these upgrades take your fancy then OnePlus is offering some fans the chance to get this device before anyone else.

The plucky smartphone start-up looks set to bring the same excitement and exclusive early access that has always characterised the global pop-up events to a new online pop-up will allow the OnePlus community across Europe to get their hands on the latest OnePlus smartphone before it goes on-sale.

Addressing the new online pop-up, OnePlus Head Of Strategy for Europe, Tuomas Lampen said, “The pop-up is an opportunity for us to engage with our community by creating a special experience around the latest launch. In the past, we have seen unwavering enthusiasm from our community for the pop-up events we have organised in cities like Paris, Helsinki, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Brussels and so on.”

“As a digital first brand, we want to bring the same pop-up experience to our community, but at the comfort of their home, keeping in mind their safety and wellbeing. The online pop-up will allow community members to be among the first to own the OnePlus 8 Series and also share their experience with the world.” Lampen added.
