X-Men Dark Phoenix shock: THIS character WON’T be back – ‘There wasn’t time to film it’

Dark Phoenix – the sequel to 2016’s Apocalypse – has had its release pushed back multiple times, thanks to complications with reshoots. But it will finally arrive in June – albeit with one familiar face missing. Olivia Munn, who played Psylocke in Apocalypse, has confirmed that she’s absent.

“I can’t say anything because last time I said a little bit they sent me a note,” she told ET Canada.

“But I’m not in it.”

Elaborating on the reasons behind her absence, she added: “I was filming (The) Predator at the time, so there wasn’t time for me to film it and so I’m not in it. I will tell you guys.”

She had previously appeared to hint that she would be in the movie, although in hindsight it seems she may have just been reluctant to give anything away.

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’m supposed to be vague,” she had said last autumn.

“That’s my answer. I’m horrible at that. It’s like a two-parter, this movie.

“That’s more than I’ve said, in general. I don’t know why people have to be so secretive.”

Dark Phoenix has been troubled to say the least: it’s already had multiple release date push-backs, due to complications with reshoots.

Back in September last year, its first trailer was received fairly poorly online.

And at the beginning of this year, it was alleged that its test screenings had not gone down well with audiences.

How the franchise will be affected after this movie, given the change in ownership of the characters, remains to be seen.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is out on June 7.
