Microsoft is getting ready to unveil its first wave of next-gen games for the Xbox Series X.
The good news for fans is that the next generation Xbox will be the subject of an online reveal event later this week.
This means there’s only a few days to wait for the next-gen Xbox games to be revealed in full.
According to Microsoft, the Xbox Series X gameplay event will take place at 4pm UK time on May 7.
The news was announced by Microsoft on Twitter, complete with confirmation that the event will be broadcast live on Inside Xbox.
“You want to see games for the Xbox Series X? We want to show you games for the Xbox Series X,” Microsoft reveals.
“Check out First Look next-gen gameplay from our global developers partners within #InsideXbox on Thursday, May 7 at 8am PT.”
Express Online will be sure to embed a live stream and report on all the breaking stories when the event goes live on May 7.
In the build up to the big event, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has been talking up the new Xbox.
In an open letter detailing the console’s specs, Spencer said that the console would use a custom-designed processor “leveraging AMD’s latest Zen 2 and RDNA 2 architectures”.
“Delivering four times the processing power of an Xbox One and enabling developers to leverage 12 TFLOPS of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) performance – twice that of an Xbox One X and more than eight times the original Xbox One,” Microsoft explains.
“Xbox Series X delivers a true generational leap in processing and graphics power with cutting edge techniques resulting in higher framerates, larger, more sophisticated game worlds, and an immersive experience unlike anything seen in console gaming.”
Backwards compatibility also plays a big part in the Xbox Series X, as Microsoft brings classic games to the console.
Not only will older games be playable on Xbox Series X, they’ll also be upscaled.
“Through the revolutionary new Xbox Velocity Architecture, thousands of games on Xbox One, including Xbox 360 and original Xbox Games, will experience improvements in performance, including improved boot and load times, more stable frame rates, higher resolutions and improved quality on Xbox Series X.”
Likewise, game streaming will also feature heavily on Xbox Series X, benefitting from speedier processing and faster loading times.
